The Australasian gannet (Morus serrator), also known as the Australian gannet or tākapu, is a distinctive large seabird characterized by its mostly white plumage, black-tipped wings, and buff-yellow head. Found along the southern and eastern coasts of Australia and New Zealand, these birds are known for their spectacular plunge-diving fishing technique and breed in coastal colonies, where they build nests from natural materials and lay a single pale blue egg each year.
